If the University System has to discharge adequately its responsibility to the entire education system and to the society as a whole, it must assume extension as the third important responsibility & give it the same status as research and teaching.
In keeping with the above view and the objectives of a good teacher training institution, the College promotes various kinds of research in education involving both faculty and students.
The main kinds of research in education promoted by the institution are:
Research activities connected with practical educational situations and classroom practices.
Research undertaken through academic projects related to education and teaching-learning.
Research leading to a Doctoral Degree in Education is also promoted by the institution.
Till date, 57 persons have been awarded Ph.D. Degrees.
The institution motivates the faculty and alumni, besides the present students, to undertake research work leading to a doctoral degree.
Faculty members guide and advise pre-primary, primary, secondary and higher-secondary teachers of practicing schools in research projects.
Teacher educators guide and advise student teachers in their Action Research Projects, an essential part of the B.Ed. course of the University.
